Athens Historic District Project – 1920s Craftsman Home

The roofing experts at MLW All Phase Construction & Roofing also have an even larger division that specializes in home remodeling. Our roofing contractors team recently completed a complete gut and restore project for a 1920’s Craftsman home in the Historic District in Athens, GA.

The homeowner wanted to renovate the home, upgrading the property. The property had many problems that are common to older homes, including some mold and mildew damage in addition to structural problems in some of the rooms. The homeowner wanted to have those resolved in the process of renovating but wanted to keep the home within the Historic District Guidelines. He asked around for recommendations for contractors to work with and a friend sent him to us.

He called in asking us to come take a look at his house. We were in the area later that week so we stopped in and he shared with us his vision – that he wanted to remove several walls to create an open floor plan. We were up to the task and agreed to do the project.

We started by knocking out the walls the client wanted removed and then upgraded all mechanical work. We reworked and re-finished all of the gorgeous hardwood floors as well.

The upgrade looks fantastic and the client said he loved the transformation. He was surprised how quickly we were able to get it done and with little mess!
